Transforming a legendary venue
As Mexico City’s Azteca Stadium prepares to host the 2026 FIFA World Cup, a team of leading local designers unveiled a stunning 15,000-square-meter interior transformation. This ambitious project, led by studios like CUAIK | CDS, Luis Huerta, and Estudio Ignacio Urquiza Ana Paula de Alba, reimagines the stadium’s hospitality spaces with remarkable custom furniture.
An homage to Mexican modernism
The design consortium, in partnership with CAAM Arquitectos and the celebrated Clásicos Mexicanos, remained faithful to the original modernist spirit that has defined Azteca Stadium. Their work preserves the iconic legacy while integrating new multifunctional areas, from lounges to reception centers, enriched with diverse chromatic schemes.

Seamless integration of interior and exterior
The west entry features inviting terracotta cladding, leading into lounges with vibrant yellow and green finishes across different levels. These areas blend seamlessly into the stands with strategic steel-and-wood detailing, offering both aesthetic coherence and practicality.

Grand social spaces with a view
On the east side, the most expansive bar area offers patrons panoramic views over the pitch and the urban and mountain vistas beyond. This innovative open plan fosters social interaction, redefining the traditional stadium experience by erasing the boundaries between interior and exterior spaces.

Exclusive underground clubs
Beneath the stands, a network of clubs, anchored by the Centerline Club, connects guests directly to the tunnel and locker room areas. These unique spaces mirror the stadium’s contours, enhancing the spectator experience with intimate environments that still capture the venue’s grandeur.

Art and custom furniture narratives
Within these spaces, the Guadalajara-based Cerámica Suro crafted a striking mural capturing the stadium’s vibrant history. The studios collaborated with innovators like Piztola, Cacao, and Patrones to curate furnishings, including the exclusive Colección EA, inspired by the stadium’s geometry and featuring a palette of seven distinct colors.
