A Creative Nod to the Past
Without resorting to cliché, the hotel’s design pays homage to its origins. The transformation of large wine tanks into suites underscores a narrative of resilient adaptation. These tanks, previously used to store wine for export, now offer guests serene accommodations with unparalleled sea views.
The story of this locale is one of evolution. After a brief but flourishing currant trade, the region adapted to a wine-making industry. Although the original facility lay dormant since the 1920s, it has found new purpose as a part of this innovative escape.
A Signature Transformation
The opening of the hotel in 2019 marked a new chapter, led by Athens-based K-Studio. The architecture firm implemented a meticulous renovation, reusing concrete cut-outs from wall modifications as terrace surfacing. This sustainable and thoughtful strategy maintained the brutalist spirit while introducing sleek, modern touches.
The more recent addition of eight Seaview Terrace Suites continues this narrative. These suites, perched atop the repurposed tanks, offer sprawling verandas shaded by wooden canopies. The contrasting materials are an homage to the harmonious dichotomy of the hotel’s design.
