Drone Art in Taipei’s Night Sky
The Taipei skyline transformed into an awe-inspiring spectacle as 1,000 LED drones took flight during the COMPUTEX x InnoVEX event. Staged over the vibrant Xinyi District from June 2nd to June 5th, 2026, this breathtaking aerial display turned the city into a canvas, weaving together technology and public art. Positioned against the iconic TAIPEI 101, the show redefined the cityscape, merging digital media and architecture into a twelve-minute narrative.
This ambitious project, led by Project Director and Creative Producer Yu-Ying Chen, showcased the dynamic synergy between urban space and technology. The drones weaved intricate patterns in the sky, creating three-dimensional compositions that included references to Taiwan’s semiconductor industry and artificial intelligence. Not just a visual treat, the event strategically integrated the drones with Taipei’s architectural marvels, offering a synchronized ballet of light and structure.
The Art of Technical Precision
Collaboration played a key role in this technical marvel. Noki Asia Limited, in partnership with Taiwan Swarm Innovation Inc., ensured the drones executed intricate flight paths and animations with flawless precision. Challenges like aviation restrictions and electromagnetic interference were meticulously addressed, highlighting the seamless coordination among creative, engineering, and regulatory teams.

The display, featuring dramatic silhouettes and abstract geometries, leveraged the grandeur of TAIPEI 101, making the skyscraper a part of the performance. This integration underscored Taipei’s position as a digital and architectural icon, elevating the familiar urban landscape into a visionary masterpiece.
Sustainable Celebrations with ‘Digital Fireworks’
The project also pioneered drones as a sustainable medium for public art, termed ‘Digital Fireworks’. This approach offered a zero-emission, programmable alternative to traditional pyrotechnics, leaving no physical residue but captivating audiences with light, movement, and innovation.
