Introducing Casa Ideale: A Cultural Hub in Arles
Set against the backdrop of Arles’ historical charm, the 1970s Villa Bank emerges as a vibrant hospitality project, Casa Ideale, spearheaded by Luca Pronzato and We Are Ona. Designed by Émile Sala, this architectural marvel invites guests from July 1st to 10th, 2026, coinciding with Les Rencontres de la Photographie. Beyond its pop-up hotel incarnation, Casa Ideale hosts the exhibition Prologue, showcasing intriguing intersections of art and architecture.
A Journey Beyond Gastronomy
Luca Pronzato enters the scene with a profound culinary vision but extends beyond mere dining experiences. His creation of We Are Ona in 2019 established a platform for ephemeral restaurants nestled in unexpected architectural settings worldwide. With Casa Ideale, Pronzato introduces an innovative blend of domestic elegance, cultural expression, and culinary delight. Amidst this, Laurent Giannesini captures the villa’s essence, bringing its duality of guesthouse and exhibition space to life.

Prologue: A Visual Narrative
Curated by Maddalena Scarzella and organized with Fondazione Sozzani, the Prologue exhibition graces Casa Ideale. Featuring over sixty photographs from the Carla Sozzani Collection, works by artists such as Urs Lüthi and Helmut Newton adorn the rooms. The accompanying pieces from Luna Laffanour’s Downtown+ gallery encapsulate the space as a ‘room of vision.’

The design narrative complements this visual journey. Inside, a modular de Sede DS-600 sofa curves gracefully around a striking Max Sauze fireplace, while a Pierre Chapo table anchors the dining room. Furnishings by Jean Prouvé, Gaetano Pesce, Ettore Sottsass, Philippe Starck, and Wendy Andreu enhance the villa’s intimate, gallery-like ambiance.

A New Avenue for Cultural Hospitality
Villa Bank’s post-organic architecture designates it as a cultural haven. Crafted by Émile Sala in the early 1970s, the building’s soft curves and fluid spaces embody an organic ethos nestled within lush gardens. This iconic structure represents a fusion of hospitality and culture, offering an environment where exhibitions flourish beyond traditional gallery spaces.
Helmed by Pronzato, the Casa Ideale project reflects a shifting hospitality model that amalgamates exhibitions, residencies, and private dining. This initiative entwines culinary artistry with cultural immersion, ensuring that Villa Bank remains a leading venue for creative exploration.

The convergence of culinary residencies, private dinners, and cultural programming at Casa Ideale redefines experiential hospitality. Anchored in Arles, this innovative endeavor embodies the vision of Luca Pronzato and We Are Ona — where architecture, art, and dining coalesce into an unforgettable narrative.
