MTT architects have crafted a serene space in Damyang, South Korea with their Deulkkotsoop “Field · Flower · Forest” Café, achieving a sustainable harmony with nature. Designed by lead architect Jeon Jaehong, this project spans 2317 m² and embodies a philosophy of merging with the landscape rather than imposing upon it. Completed in 2025, it invites visitors to experience nature at the forefront.
Sustainable Harmony in Grounded Design Philosophy
Instead of creating a landscape, this project honors the existing natural beauty. The decision to construct a single-story building reflects a commitment to maintaining the integrity of the land. The architects wanted the café to be a place where the essence of the area is more memorable than the structure itself, allowing the environment to shine as the true centerpiece of this balanced existence with nature.

Collaborative Craftsmanship
The project was realized with contributions from professionals including Kim Sanghoon, Shin Uitak, and Han Seohee. The collaboration extends to the landscape design by THE SUP, ensuring both architectural and natural elements are seamlessly integrated. General construction was carried out by YEIL SYNTHESIS CONSTRUCTION Co., Ltd., bringing the vision to life in harmonious sustainability.
To further appreciate the seamless integration of art and nature, consider Seoul-based Artist Wanjin GIM’s work which captures the language of hands and feet with a similar appreciation for organic forms.

This café reveals MTT’s dedication to sustainability and subtlety, offering a space where the architecture doesn’t stand apart from its environment but becomes one with it, creating a symbiotic relationship and offering a thoughtful space for visitors to connect with South Korea’s natural allure.
