Motorola says the Signature 27 can peak at 12,000 nits, a brightness figure that dwarfs current flagship screens. The detail is one of several features revealed in an early preview video that Motorola arranged with YouTuber Danny Winget, who filled in specifications the company had only partly revealed at Qualcomm’s Snapdragon Summit in September.
For a wider look at the handset’s cameras and sound, Motorola’s Signature 27 unveil with 200MP telephoto covers the official launch details and the Bang & Olufsen audio.
Motorola partnered exclusively with Winget for the preview, so the hands-on footage is company-arranged. The specs below come from Motorola’s own materials, the video and press coverage, and each claim is attributed to its source.
Camera hardware
The motorola signature 27 camera starts with a main sensor, a 50-megapixel Sony Lytia 910 with a Type 1/1.28 LOFIC design. PetaPixel reports that Motorola promises strong low-light performance and rich color from this sensor.
The telephoto camera pairs a 200-megapixel Sony Lytia 901 sensor, a Type 1/1.12 part, with a periscope lens. That lens provides 5x optical zoom. Motorola says its Super Zoom Pro mode reaches 100x equivalent zoom by using generative AI to create new pixels, a method similar to super zoom features on rival Android phones.

A third rear camera, a 50-megapixel ultrawide with a Type 1/2.76 sensor, completes the array.

The action sensor
Winget calls the camera system “insane” and points to a dedicated action sensor on the rear camera module. Winget says it helps with high-speed photography, but it is not entirely clear what the sensor actually is.
Winget demonstrates the sensor working with the phone’s dedicated action mode. The video does not explain what the sensor is or how it works, so that question remains open until launch.
A 12,000-nit display
The 6.8-inch screen uses Tandem OLED, which Winget’s video confirms. Tandem OLED stacks two layers of organic LEDs instead of one, which raises peak brightness. PetaPixel notes that Apple’s brand-new, redesigned touchscreen MacBook Pro also features a new Tandem OLED.
Comparisons with rival phones vary by outlet. PetaPixel says the Galaxy S26 Ultra does not reach 3,000 nits, which is consistent with Android Authority’s figure. PetaPixel also expects the 12,000-nit peak to apply only in specific situations and to part of the screen.

Motorola signature 27 specs: chip, cooling, audio and finishes
As a motorola flagship phone, the device runs Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 platform. Motorola’s ArcticMesh cooling system combines a diamond-infused thermal gel, liquid metal, a copper mesh and a redesigned 3D vapor chamber. Motorola says the system is 40 percent larger than the previous generation.
Audio is tuned by Bang & Olufsen. Motorola calls this its first phone to feature Audio by B&O, following a multi-year partnership with the Danish audio brand. Motorola also says the phone will receive seven OS updates and up to seven years of security updates, depending on market, carrier and model.
The body combines an aluminum frame with a camera housing finished in smooth ceramic and brushed aluminum. Buyers can choose Coal Smoke, which has a woven Tactical Weave texture, or Capulet Olive, which has a brushed textile-inspired finish. Both colors are Pantone-licensed.
Launch timing and open questions
Motorola confirmed on X that the Signature 27 will launch on November 5, according to 9to5Google. The company has also said it expects worldwide availability in 2026.
Phone makers are also rethinking their front-facing hardware this cycle, and iPhone 18 Pro’s slimmer Dynamic Island redesign offers a useful comparison for how rivals handle screen space.
Battery capacity, charging speed, storage options and price remain unannounced for the device. Motorola has not said how premium the phone will be priced, so buyers will have to wait for the November 5 details. The launch will show whether the phone’s brightness and camera claims hold up, and what they cost.
