If you’re looking for a creative and exciting way to spend your time, take a scroll through Tatsuya Tanaka’s Instagram. The Japanese artist has spent the last decade reimaging life-sized objects as tiny sets for his characters. Released daily as part of his ongoing Miniature Calendar project, the works often correspond with current events and cultural moments. Recently, Tanaka posted photos in honor of the Winter Olympic Games. It’s incredible to see how he captures the essence of these events on such a small scale!
“The subject of my endeavor is ‘mitate,’ which means to replicate something around us with similar or identical things,” he adds. “It’s critical to utilize something that everyone understands as a motif in my work,” he explains.
