French artist Thomas Mailaender presented a series of «Illustrated People», which mixed performance art with photography. In this series, Mailaender used original negatives of old photographs to his model’s skin while he projected a UV tanning lamp over the negatives. He then shot the images projected as burns on his models, using human skin as photosensitive paper.
