An Artist With Wanderlust “Travels” by Drawing Architecture Found Online

While many individuals with wanderlust like to see sites worldwide vicariously by means of online images, Instagram user horiaki2 takes it a step farther. Rather than simply look at the images, the up-and-coming painter prefers to paint them.

With a focus on architecture, horiaki2 creates complex studies of landmarks and buildings from cities all around the globe. Every fragile piece consists of sketch-like lines and a traditional mixture of delicate pastel tones and brilliant pops of color. Based in Japan, the artist recreates any scenes outside of the country by working exclusively from discovered pictures. “Photos in Japan are those of locations I have got been to,” horiaki2 reveals in a roughly translated comment. “Foreign paintings are drawn looking at photos. Within the time to come I might similar to move worldwide and sketch.”

While every architectural research is rendered within the designer’s signature model, they nonetheless comprise a diverse series. A few of the topics, similar the recognizable dome of Venice’s Santa Maria Della Salute and the towering cupolas of Paris’ Sacre Couer, are monumental. Others, similar a quiet Quebec road and a row of colorful colonial houses in Washington DC, are more than intimate. And, of class, many are in betwixt, together with views of busy streets and peeks of public squares.

Finally, Horiaki2 hopes to be able to ditch the images and travel the world. In the meantime, you’ll be able to keep up with the painter’s progress and bring together in artistic wanderlust on Instagram.
