So, you’ve decided to travel to your favourite destination all by yourself with nothing but a backpack? Sounds thrilling!

Congratulations on being this travel and adventure freak! Not everyone has the courage to do this. We believe that this trip is definitely going to give you a new perspective altogether, a changed outlook, and you’ll definitely return with a bagful of new experiences.

Let’s talk about your backpacking now. You must have researched quite a lot and done all your homework and figured out everything. Quite sensible! But, before you step your foot out, there are a few things you must know. So, to help you prepare well, we have enlisted the top five tips you must follow, considering you’re a first-time backpacker.

Pack only staple clothing

You don’t want yourself burdened with an overly packed bag in the midst of wilderness, do you? Well, leave all your favourite fancy stuff at home then! Just carry your staple wardrobe items and you are good to go, trust us! Comfortable trousers, track pants, joggers and multiple basic tops to go with them. Alongside, either your running shoes or your Rocky S2V tactical boots are your best companions.

Besides, make sure that you do not stuff your bag with clothes only. You have other essentials like edibles, electronics, safety gear, and others such to accommodate too.

Those gadgets aren’t essential

Do yourself a favor and leave your electronic gadgets at home. You don’t want to spend your time out there checking your Instagram feed rather than admiring and connecting with nature, right? So, leave your laptop, ipad, or whatsoever other electronic devices you have at your place. All you’ll be needing during your traveling is a mobile phone, earphones, charger, and a speaker (not necessary).

Trust your instincts

Sure you did your homework but the internet does not know everything. Instead of relying solely on the internet and taking the path told by your maps, trust your instincts and follow the path not chosen. This way you will be able to explore the undiscovered gems of the place. If you take the off-beaten path, you might lead to a beautiful spot. So, go and explore but not at the cost of your safety. For instance, avoid travelling to such a deserted area alone at night. Only do it keeping in mind the surroundings and only when you feel comfortable.

Surrender your plan when needed

We understand you prepared a fool-proof plan but for some reason, things are not going as per it. Don’t lose heart in such a case! Usually, you stumble upon the best things unexpectedly. Keeping that in mind, learn to let go of any fears and surrender to your plan. Instead, go with the flow of your travel. This way you will have the best time ever. For instance, you found a great bunch of people to hang out with and they’re heading to Thailand, join them if it makes you happy. Go where life takes you!

Try and not panic in complex situations

Before you step out of your place, make one thing very clear in your mind that you are going outside your comfort zone and it isn’t going to be easy. You are going to have complex moments where you feel it’s the end. But, it is not.

You might misplace things, miss a commute, or even get lost, just don’t panic. Accept what life throws at you and remain calm. Just be in the moment and shrug it off later. You obviously don’t want to carry the sadness along with you. Just embrace the moment as you will only become stronger.

Want to know a secret? There is always one person in a hotel you come across who knows an undiscovered place Maybe head out with them and explore. Follow these tips and you will be alright! In fact, you’ll do amazing. Happy backpacking!
