Drawing inspiration from the classic pen-and-paper game, Australian designer Adam Goodrum has crafted the Hangman lighting collection for Rakumba. This engaging series includes table, floor, and ceiling lights, each featuring an extruded aluminum rod. These rods bend into various geometric shapes, thanks to a uniquely engineered articulated joint.
Design rooted in imagination and versatility
The designs cleverly echo elements of the childhood game, artistically capturing its playful nature and the typographic essence of its mechanics. Goodrum’s vision was to invoke the limitless possibilities akin to putting pencil to paper. “The range celebrates versatility and imagination, allowing you to create as if you’re drawing in 3D,” Goodrum explains.
A seamless blend of form and function
Integral to the collection is the joint mechanism, which incorporates a simple 45-degree cut. This enables a full 360-degree rotation, complete with a reassuring “click” as it locks into place. The light itself shines as a refined glowing tip, available in Black Anodised or Silver Anodised finishes. Over time, the raw polished aluminum finish is designed to develop an elegant patina.
