A leopard commands attention without moving. Lepas wants its first concept car to capture that stillness, and the lepas aura concept car is the company’s first look at how its future cars may be shaped.

Lepas unveiled the Aura on 22 October 2026 at Global Elegance Night in Wuhu, China, during the inaugural Lepas Global Elegant Lifestyle Week. Lepas is a new Chinese brand. The company presents the Aura as the second evolution of its “Leopard Aesthetics” design language.

What the Aura shows

Designers based the car’s stance on the animal’s poise and muscular tension. The concept has a long wheelbase, short overhangs and a wide stance. Shoulder lines evoke the tension beneath a leopard’s skin.

Lepas is not the only maker reimagining vehicle form around electric power. Cellcius C-01 Electric Superbike’s Swappable Honeycomb Battery Design shows how a radical silhouette can be built around a new energy system.

Ivan Dulanović, Lepas’s chief designer, puts the idea simply. “Leopard Aesthetics has always been about character,” he says. “We have never put a leopard on a car. Instead, we capture its spirit through design.”

The Aura keeps the porcelain-inspired surfacing first seen on the Lepas L8 SUV. Glossy volumes and flowing lines draw on Chinese craft traditions. Integrated air channels follow the body’s contours and guide airflow around the car.

Dulanović says porcelain links the brand’s past and its ambitions. “Porcelain is our bridge between origin and ambition,” he says. “It is a material recognised worldwide for its graciousness.”

A single black face for the family

The most visible change on this car is at the front. The rounded grille and the separate side intakes merge into one black surface. The Leopard-Eye lighting sits within this cleaner arrangement, and Lepas intends it to define future models.

Dulanović links the front to the car’s overall purpose. “What Aura adds is composure,” he says. “Every element of the language is now distilled to its clearest form.”

The concept also treats the car as a platform for personal expression. A digital canvas at the front can display imagery, lighting and animations. An elliptical display at the rear allows owners to choose their own taillight signature.

Lepas expects the car’s surfaces to change with its owner. Dulanović describes the shift in these words: “the face and rear of the car becoming canvases rather than fixed fixtures.” The silhouette and lighting identity would remain recognisable throughout.

Three colours tied to the time of day

The Aura comes in three proposed finishes, each drawn from a landscape on a different continent and at a different hour. Dawn Pearl takes its soft pink from sunrise in Tahiti. Bacalar Blue reflects the turquoise water of Mexico‘s Bacalar Lagoon at midday.

Provence Twilight draws on the blue-violet of lavender fields at dusk in Provence. Together, the three finishes show how colour and changing light can alter the character of one body shape. Lepas presents the palette as another route to personal style.

Lepas positions the Aura as a concept car design direction rather than a finished production plan. The company says the front fascia, the lighting, the porcelain finish and the colour work will carry into future models. The Lepas L8 SUV, a large five-seat plug-in hybrid priced from £34,900 in the UK, shows the current production direction. Further details on the UK range are at LepasAuto.co.uk, and global information is available at LepasInternational.com.

The lepas aura concept car’s real test will come when its ideas reach the factory floor. Lepas must show that the leopard’s stillness and presence survive the cost and constraints of production. If it does, the car will show a brand that looks composed at rest and recognisable before it moves.

If you want another example of a modern concept turning a classic automotive profile into a tangible object, Hedley Studios’ 80% Scale Electric Porsche 550 Spyder offers a playful take on proportion, stance and electric reinterpretation.
