Step into The Magician’s Room and you enter a surreal world populated by hybrid creatures, strange symbols, and dreamlike scenes. A muscular horse carries a serpent on its back, headless birds dive toward a central star, and a fluffy white rabbit sits within a circle of watching eyes. The works come from Paris-based artist Lou Benesch.
The exhibition takes the tarot’s Magician card as its starting point. Traditionally associated with transformation, action, and the connection between the earthly and spiritual realms, the Magician embodies movement and possibility. Benesch translates these ideas into a series of mystical mixed-media works made on found and antique materials.
Vintage board games and chalkboards serve as unusual surfaces and frames for Benesch’s compositions.
