Maggie Evans Reuben Wu's work, EX STASIS, is a fascinating and mesmerizing series of photographs. In the past, he has used drones to illuminate rugged landscapes with light painting for his Lux Noctis and Aeroglyph Series; this time, Reuben turns on his own imagination- using glowing geometric shapes that seem to emerge from nothingness as you watch them hypnotize in motion.
The photographer programmed a stick of 200 LED lights for EX STASIS to shift in color and shape above calm landscapes. He captured these mesmerizing movements through his camera, producing four audiovisual works that juxtapose natural scenery with artificially created light and electronic sounds.
