These intricate designs feature orbiting arms that carry hour numerals around a central axis. Now, Hong Kong-based brand Mitico brings this sophisticated mechanism to the masses with the PhantomX. Launched on Kickstarter at $399, this watch uses a similar four-arm satellite system over a Miyota 9039 automatic movement, housed in a chic stainless tonneau case. The campaign quickly exceeded its funding goal by over 1,400%.

The PhantomX stands out for its “Only the Present Hour Revealed” concept. This system uses four continuously orbiting arms, each with three hour numerals on a 3D star wheel, revealing just the current hour at the dial’s center. This design keeps the face clean despite its mechanical complexity. Time is easily read by aligning the arm in the display position with the 0-to-60 minute track. This innovative reading mechanism invites engagement over a simple glance.

A red triangular seconds hand sweeps across the dial, serving as a visual anchor amidst the dial’s dynamic motion. This adds a layer of depth, enhanced by the sculpted textures at the dial’s center. Colorful variety and customization
The PhantomX is available in ten distinct colorways, including Phantom Black and Solar Yellow, each with coordinating strap stitching and accents.
