A modern twist on a 17th-century classic
URWERK, the renowned Geneva-based watchmaker, has long dominated the luxury market with its satellite hour complications, with prices that can match a compact car. These intricate designs feature orbiting arms that carry hour numerals around a central axis. Now, Hong Kong-based brand Mitico brings this sophisticated mechanism to the masses with the PhantomX. Launched on Kickstarter at $399, this watch uses a similar four-arm satellite system over a Miyota 9039 automatic movement, housed in a chic stainless tonneau case. The campaign quickly exceeded its funding goal by over 1,400%.
A unique take on timeless design
The PhantomX stands out for its “Only the Present Hour Revealed” concept. This system uses four continuously orbiting arms, each with three hour numerals on a 3D star wheel, revealing just the current hour at the dial’s center. This design keeps the face clean despite its mechanical complexity. Time is easily read by aligning the arm in the display position with the 0-to-60 minute track. This innovative reading mechanism invites engagement over a simple glance.

Visual sophistication and clarity
A red triangular seconds hand sweeps across the dial, serving as a visual anchor amidst the dial’s dynamic motion. This adds a layer of depth, enhanced by the sculpted textures at the dial’s center. The use of high-intensity Swiss Super-LumiNova ensures legibility in the dark, while standard-grade lume outlines the dial’s structure without overwhelming the primary display.

Crafted for bold impact
The PhantomX features a bold 50.64mm by 43.32mm stainless steel case, with skeletonized architecture to balance aesthetics and structural integrity. The ergonomic crown placement at 12 o’clock minimizes wrist pressure. Double sapphire crystals provide clear visibility from any angle, and water resistance up to 5 ATM ensures durability. The Miyota 9039 movement supports the watch’s complex design reliably, making it a practical choice in this price range.

Colorful variety and customization
The PhantomX is available in ten distinct colorways, including Phantom Black and Solar Yellow, each with coordinating strap stitching and accents. Its strap, a nylon and leather hybrid, allows easy swaps with quick-release spring bars. Mitico plans to ship by August 2026, with the campaign closing on June 13. Priced at $399, the PhantomX makes high-end horology accessible.
