The 2026 Nissan Frontier PRO-4X has become a standout at Overland Expo West, emerging as the ultimate base for the “Ultimate Overland Vehicle Build.” This renowned event draws off-road enthusiasts, and this year’s highlight didn’t disappoint. The platform selection of the Nissan Frontier follows previous iterations that included Lexus and GMC, but this latest development marks the first time a Nissan has taken center stage.
The Overland Expo team handpicked the Nissan Frontier for its inherent off-road capabilities, with a 310-hp V6 engine and a robust towing capacity of 7,150 lbs. This formidable potential made it a prime candidate for transformation into an overlanding beast. Alldogs OffRoad Coop (ADO) led the modification charge, integrating aftermarket enhancements sourced from 28 different brands, turning the Frontier into a self-sufficient camping rig.
Transformation Details
Key enhancements include a suspension upgrade, complementing the Frontier’s stock elements like Bilstein shocks and all-terrain tires, aimed at optimizing off-road performance. The vehicle also features a Tune Outdoor M1L camper mounted on its truck bed. This pop-up camping unit, crafted from an aluminum frame and composite materials, adds just 332 lbs. Its interior boasts a custom AirBed from Pittman Outdoors, a functional galley with a fridge, a Rixen shower, and a Breeo Y Series firepit in the living space.
The energy independence of this build is assured with rooftop solar panels linked to a REDARC power management system. Such thoughtful adaptations allow the Nissan to embark on long, adventurous journeys with assured comfort and capability.

The completion of this sixth and first Nissan-based iteration of the Ultimate Overland Vehicle Build underscores innovation in off-road vehicle design. Debuting at Overland Expo West in Flagstaff, Arizona, from May 15-17, this build will continue its appearances at future events before being auctioned later in the year through Bring a Trailer.
