Johannes Faure-Brac, a seasoned industrial designer from the French Alps, has redefined furniture design with his innovative solutions. Growing up in his father’s woodworking shop, Faure-Brac witnessed firsthand the craftsmanship behind traditional furniture. However, after obtaining two degrees in industrial design and working within the industry, he became disillusioned with its wasteful practices.
“The production, storage, and transportation of furniture had become inefficient,” Faure-Brac notes. “The system was cumbersome, expensive, and energy-intensive, sacrificing quality, comfort, and design.” Determined to revolutionize the industry, he embarked on a six-year research journey to create a sustainable alternative.
Inspired by aeronautical technology initially developed by the American military, Faure-Brac designed a line of inflatable furniture through his company, Airmaan. This technology, repurposed by the French military for naval applications, gave rise to furniture that is both lightweight and durable. “The solution was not just to reduce weight, but to rethink structure,” he emphasizes.

The result is a range of inflatable pieces made from a durable, easy-to-clean material. These full-size chairs and sofas are remarkably light, allowing them to be carried with one hand, yet resilient enough to support an adult’s weight—even outside, year-round.
The versatility of Airmaan’s creations lies in their compact and robust design, offering endless possibilities for outdoor and indoor use. Recently launched on Kickstarter, the Airmaan M Sofa raised $316,748 and is set to ship next month. This success has also paved the way for the N Club Chair companion piece.
The innovative designs of inflatable furniture are echoed in the way VIBRYX merges sound and design into unique furniture pieces worth exploring.
