Ste Marie, a renowned Canadian interiors studio, has crafted the Monos headquarters in Vancouver with a focus on simplicity and adaptable moods throughout the day. Nestled in the city’s Mount Pleasant neighborhood, the office captures Monos’ evolution and accommodates its growth ambitions.
The open-ended brief allowed Ste Marie to devise a “flexible framework” that supports and encourages collaboration, experimentation, and hosting within the space.

A Space That Reflects Core Values at the Office
Ste Marie embraced the opportunity to integrate Monos’ values of design, mindfulness, and human connection into the workspace. “Monos is a brand grounded in these principles,” explained the studio, “creating an environment where people gather to work, create, and share ideas.” The design mirrors the interiors crafted by Ste Marie for a Monos store in Toronto.

Residential-Inspired Layout
The office is designed with a residential feel and comprises three interconnected areas. The first area features soft, modular sofas for casual lounging and boxy banquettes illuminated by conical pendant lights, perfect for personal discussions, meetings, or shared meals. A central communal table serves multiple purposes, from meetings to product development.
Custom millwork is arranged in perpendicular planes, forming supports and overhead light boxes that enhance the space’s utility and charm. The use of interior design elements such as these ensures a blend of functionality and aesthetic appeal.

Fluid and Flexible Functionality
At the rear, a kitchen and tea room boasts minimalist, solid-surface counters and handleless cabinets. This area exemplifies workspace flexibility, transforming effortlessly between roles — from a meeting space to a dining area or an event venue. Ste Marie harmonizes polished concrete flooring and rift-cut timber with softer furnishings and natural-fiber rugs, softened further by sheer curtains.
Dimmable lighting allows the ambiance to transition from focused morning sessions to casual afternoons and evening gatherings, creating a comfortable yet adaptable workplace.

Ste Marie’s Cinematic Touch
Founded by Craig Stanghetta, Ste Marie is acclaimed for cinematic spaces across North America. Alongside this project, the studio’s portfolio includes venues in Edmonton, amenity spaces in a 1960s Chicago tower, and a Vancouver restaurant inspired by Hong Kong’s “love motels”.
Through Monos’ Vancouver headquarters, Ste Marie showcases its ability to blend residential warmth with the dynamic needs of a creative workplace.
