Tiny Graphite Drawings by Mateo Pizarro

by Archie Hayes 2016-07-23, 6:52 PMupdated 2019-04-30, 9:38 AM

Mateo Pizarro’s tiny graphite drawings are hardly larger than the length of a match but include sufficient detail to recommend entire stories, both surreal and terrifying. The Colombian artist appeals to these as his Micro-Baroque series, and while the pictures shown here seem centered on the unbelievable detail included in small spaces, Pizarro also explores more offensive and unsettling images in a collection of hybrid creatures named Bestiary of Improbable Animals.
