Daft Punk’s Milestone Honored in LEGO Form
On January 20, 2027, Daft Punk‘s debut album Homework turns 30, marking a significant year for the iconic duo to be immortalized in LEGO. Famous for tracks like “Da Funk” and “Around the World,” their creative synergy aligns perfectly with a new “lego daft punk pyramid” set. On October 22, LEGO announced a thrilling new collaboration, revealing their first product: a set based on Daft Punk’s legendary tour stage, set for release in 2027.
A Journey from Inspiration to Reality: The LEGO Daft Punk Pyramid
This innovative set is rooted in the vision of Patrick Harboun, a builder from Luxembourg, whose passion for Daft Punk led him to re-create the pyramid stage with his son during the 2020 lockdown. Earning the Grand Prize in LEGO Ideas’ Music to Our Ears challenge, they persevered with the project, eventually reaching 10,000 supporters by 2025. LEGO has taken Harboun’s fan build and begun transforming it into a retail set—a testament to perseverance and creativity.
The Original Icon: Coachella 2006
The real pyramid debuted on April 29, 2006, at Coachella’s Sahara Tent, originally designed by Martin Phillips from the LA production company Bionic League. This masterpiece utilized off-the-shelf Barco OLite LED panels rather than custom technology. Touring globally as Alive 2006/2007, the stage also served as the backdrop for Grammy-winning Alive 2007, recorded at Paris-Bercy.

Harboun’s creation features approximately 2,000 pieces, depicting Thomas Bangalter and Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo with their iconic helmets. Crafting triangles with LEGO’s right angles posed a challenge, yet Harboun’s ingenuity triumphed in the creation of the set, ultimately expanding it digitally. Although official Daft Punk minifigures didn’t exist, Harboun cleverly used a loophole, referencing their appearance in Pharrell’s LEGO-themed biopic.
A Glimpse into the Set’s Unique Features
A standout feature of the model is the motorized core, simulating the shifting LED patterns from the actual stage using transparent bricks and lights. This element represents both the stage’s video rig and the spirit of LEGO’s Night Mode. Though modifications are expected in the retail version, this intriguing detail is anticipated to remain.
The imminent release will be the first physical LEGO set based on Daft Punk, following their digital presence in LEGO Fortnite. According to LEGO’s Julia Goldin, this launch is “just the beginning of a bigger journey.” While details like pricing and piece count remain undisclosed, Daft Punk’s creative director Cédric Hervet confirms the pyramid’s iconic status, celebrating Daft Punk’s 30-year legacy with this commemorative build.
Lighting enthusiasts might appreciate dynamic light show innovations that merge technology and creativity in striking new ways.
