Isabel Mayfair: A Fusion of Architectural Grandeur
Located within The Galleria on Al Maryah Island, Abu Dhabi, the venue is a 580-square-meter hospitality space designed by the Dubai-based studio, DBM (Design by Mahsa). This luxurious addition marks the first international extension of the London restaurant brand, commissioned by BNF Hospitality. Created by artist and interior designer Mahsa Gholizadeh, the concept integrates an architectural narrative centered around an imagined muse, Isabel.
Intricate Craftsmanship and Opulent Materials
The interior is a lavish blend of polished brass, Calacatta Viola marble, dark oak, and midnight-blue velvet. These materials come together to form curved custom banquettes and other bespoke elements. A central brass floral sculpture dominates the dining area, embodying the botanical motifs that recur throughout the space. Noteworthy features include three-dimensional silk embroideries, gold-leaf surfaces, and custom wallcoverings in alcoves and washrooms.
Luxury and intricate design are also key themes in the renovation of a historic Montreal home which combines Calacatta Viola marble with contemporary art.
Lighting Magic and Structural Artistry
A striking brass-and-glass canopy hovers above the central bar, skillfully redistributing light. Nearby, an enclosed wine storage area shimmers with reflective brass panels. This combination of large-scale metal installations and intricate textile work was realized on a tight construction timeline of three to four months by studio DBM.
