Thousands of bearded men overwhelmed the small Austrian village of Leogang on Oct. 3. The reason for their meeting is the 2015 World Beard and Moustache Championships. Men were competing in 3 categories: mustache, partial beard and a full beard.
“I am anticipating strong competitors with unique beards in Saalfelden Leogang this year,” stated Wilhelm Preuss, the president of the East Bavarian Beard Club. “We will see where beards grow the fastest.”
The championships are hosted by the World Beard and Moustache Association (WBMA). The first competition took place in Germany in 1990, so it looks like beards was a thing even B.H. (before hipsters).
