The artistry of Echoes of Mexico
French artist Coco Brun collaborates with Mexico City’s Sten Studio to create Echoes of Mexico, an inspired collection of sculptural vessels featuring coco brun sten. Drawing from traditional Mexican lapidary practices, these artworks are crafted from red travertine, veined marble, and vibrant onyx. Supported by the Institut Français d’Amérique Latine, this project was recently recognized in the fourth edition of Le French Design 100 at Art Paris.
Design inspired by ancient forms of the stone
The Místicos series embraces the geometry of Mexican pyramids. Featuring faceted silhouettes and sloping surfaces, these vessels harmonize heavy polished marble with the depth of translucent onyx. The Abstracted Ancestry collection echoes the layered forms of Maya ceremonial masks and ear ornaments, introducing voids into solid stone to blend vessel and sculpture.
